Freedom From the Bondage of Pride

Dear Child,  

Pride is a terrible slave master! If you are meek and lowly, then you are humble, and will not have to carry the burden, which pride causes by having to prove oneself. You won’t need to prove anything and therefore no stressful burden trying to prove it.

Just know who you are in Me! Walk in it, don’t be anxious or concerned about proving who you are. Let your confidence in Our Relationship be sufficient.

Learn of Me for I am meek and lowly.

                                                    Thus saith the Lord Jesus

Mat 11:29-30  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

CHALLENGE: Unload that subtle yoke of pride and take His yoke upon you! Jesus didn’t try or need to prove who He was, because He was so confident in His relationship to the Father.

Are You in a Spiritual Drought ?

Dear Child,

Study what drought and the scorch of the sun has done to your garden and learn a parable.

See your roses, the root is striving to produce, that is its purpose, but see how small the roses are and how they lack their normal fragrance? It is almost as if the potential bud does not fully develop and therefore dies on the vine.

See how the trees that do not have deep roots wither? When a drought comes the trees with deep roots survive from the hidden water deep in the earth.

Spiritually this is how you will survive during a time of spiritual drought and heat of trials. You will be nourished from the hidden manna of your deep roots and secret history with Me. Then the fruit which your life will bear will be everlasting and a sweet fragrance to Me.

As you dedicate this intimate time with Me, the flower that will be produced from your life will not be a disappointment . It will not die on the vine, because you are nourishing it daily with your time spent with Me.

Jer 17:8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

CHALLENGE: Is your spiritual life drying up and dying on the vine due to a lack of intimate time with Papa that He may nourish your roots?

Develop a Lasting Love in your Marriage

As we celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on July 18th this year

we rejoice at God’s blessing and grace on our years together.

 1964 AGAPE, PHILEO AND EROS LOVE led us to 2014

                We are brother and sister in the Lord, we are best friends and we are lovers.

In the Greek language AGAPE – PHILEO – EROS –  are all words for love, yet each displaying a different character of love.

AGAPE – Displays the character of God for God is love. It’s the love that cannot be earned, an unconditional love with acceptance and  forgiveness.

Agape love is displayed in a marital union of two good forgivers who learn to seek forgiveness and offer forgiveness, accepting the shortcomings in each other. As both spouses move towards God they are also moving closer to each other as His character is formed in them.

It is available to us through the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is the power of being like-spirited as we pray together, minister together and serve one and other.

PHILEO – Displays the character of friendship. Unlike agape love phileo love has to be earned as it involves trust. It is earned as we learn to trust one another through communicating from the depths of our hearts. Trusting our spouses with our deep wounds, our aspirations, passions and dreams. Never leave your heart unspoken for it displays your heart to your spouse.

Your spouse should be your most trusted and best friend. A relationship where you laugh together, cry together, play together and support  each other’ dreams.

It has been said that “It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.”. Friedrich Nietzsche

It is the power of being like-minded as you have fun together sharing and supporting each others’ hobbies, passions and dreams.

EROS –   Displays the character of romantic and sexual love. Eros love is like a phileo friendship love caught on fire. Keep the fire lit in your marriage and your life will be filled with warmth.

The Eros love is the only love that makes your marriage different and unique than any other relationship, that is why it is so important to keep romance alive. Light the candles, turn on the music and keep that flame burning brightly.

It is the power of physical attraction and the consummation of body, soul and spirit.

 A  successful marriage needs all three “loves” to hold it together. As we love God with our body, soul and spirit, likewise we need to love our spouses with our body, soul and spirit. Now we’re talking unity!  In fact the unity in our marriage is a witness to the world of the mystical union of Christ and His church according to Ephesians 5:23

 

CHALLENGE: “A marriage is not a noun. It isn’t something you are. It is a verb. It’s the way you love your partner everyday with AGAPE, PHILEO and EROS love.

The Cross is My Statue of Liberty

There is no better song than the one penned by our personal friend, Neil Enloe of the Couriers, to celebrate the 4th.July which reminds us not only of  National freedom but also Spiritual freedom.

In New York Harbor stands a lady, With a torch raised to the sky;

And all who see her know she stands for Liberty for you and me.

I am proud to be called an American, To be named with the brave and the free;

I will honor our flag and our trust in God And the Statue of Liberty

On lonely Golgotha stood a cross, With my Lord raised to the sky;

And all who kneel there live forever As all the saved can testify.

I am so glad to called a Christian, To be named with the ransomed and whole:

As the statue liberates the citizen, So the cross liberates the soul.

Oh the cross is my Statue of Liberty, It was there that my soul was set free:

Unashamed I’ll proclaim that old rugged cross Is my Statue of Liberty!
