Gifts with a Prophetic Meaning

Screen-shot-2012-06-25-at-12.42.50-AM

Matthew 2:11  And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Over two thousand years ago wise men offered Him gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

This Christmas we can also offer Him gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. But these gifts have much more than monetary value for they cost us the treasures of our hearts.

GOLD prophesied His royalty as King of Kings

And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:16

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, [be] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. I Timothy 1:17

We present unto Him the Gift of Gold out of the treasure of our hearts when we submit to his Kingship and Lordship in our lives.

FRANKINCENSE prophesied of His everlasting priesthood after the order of Melchizedek

Whither the forerunner is for us entered, [even] Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek Hebrews 6:20

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us]. Hebrews 9:11

We present unto Him the gift of Frankincense as we daily offer Him our thanksgiving, prayers and praise at the Golden Altar of Incense where we present ourselves as living sacrifices holy and acceptable. It will be a sweet incense to Him.

MYRRH prophesied His suffering as the Lamb of God.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I Peter 2:24

We present Him the gift of myrrh as as we willingly identify with His suffering and take up our cross daily and follow Him.

CHALLENGE: Make the Christmas pageant come alive this year in your heart as you present unto Him, gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. As you confirm that He is your King, great High Priest and the Lamb of God that takes away your sin.

The Vital Truth of the New Birth

Vital-Truth-Of-The-Virgin-Birth

Since we are all born with an Adam nature and born as sinners separated from God, where could we ever find someone who was sinless, who could take the penalty for our sin by taking our place of judgement? It had to be someone who did not inherit the Adam nature. The only way this could possibly happen was to have someone born physically without an earthly father since sin is inherited through our fathers’ bloodline not our mothers’. But everyone male or female inherits that Adam nature since we all have earthly fathers.

There was only one born who did not have an earthly father, that one was the babe in the manger in Bethlehem. Yes, even He did have an earthly mother who had been born of an earthly father, but biologically the blood of the mother never intermingles with the blood of the fetus, thus He could be born without a sinful nature. The chemistry is in the blood, sin is in the blood, and life is in the blood.

If this babe had an earthly father He would have been paying for the penalty of His own sin.

He had to be the perfect Lamb to be found worthy to take away the sin of the world.

If He wasn’t born of a virgin we are still in our sins for His sacrificial death would not have been an acceptable sacrifice when He presented His blood in the Holy of Holies in the heavens.

When the Father by the power of the Holy Spirit plants His seed in our spiritual wombs we are “born again” of a different bloodline through the New Birth as we now can become the children of God.

Surely the Christmas story is The Son of God becoming a man to enable men to become the sons of God.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

CHALLENGE:

Except we become as little children we cannot see the Kingdom of God.

Celebrate the miracle of the Virgin Birth this season with childlike wonder and faith.

Dressing The House to Celebrate

I was spending time “Dressing the house” and putting finishing touches to my Christmas tree to celebrate the season, when I took a moment to sit down with my Scottie and Westie, to reflect and be inspired as I read Jack Hayford’s Christmas Devotional where he  writes:-

“Be assured this is righteous.

I mean it! Decoration of the house at Christmas is neither a surrender to pagan traditions nor a capitulation to commercialism.

Listen….
If God commissioned angels to roll back the night and fill it with blazing light
If God provided a mighty celestial choir to serenade a few startled shepherds,
If God graced the heavens with a miracle star,
If God arranged such a memorable entry point as a feeding trough in a stable,
If God went to all this trouble to open our eyes to His entry into our world
Then we needn’t apologize for festooning our home with a few seasonal reminders!
Since the light of the world has come, lights strung across the roof only shout it from the housetop. Candles and candelabra, stars and starlight, gifts and giving, songs and sonnets, light and lightheartedness, angel cookies and wise men or ornaments – all are consistent with what transpired on our little planet two thousand years ago.
That we celebrate the memory with attention and care, the wonder-filled and wonder-full is entirely appropriate”.

CHALLENGE: As we prepare our hearts for His Advent let us also prepare our homes as a window to display the celebration and joy of the season for family, friends and neighbors as they visit our homes.

Offering the Lord a Table of Thanksgiving

Screen Shot 2014-11-24 at 1.07.36 PM

As we prepare our tables this week for a thanksgiving meal let us prepare a table of thanks to offer the Lord.

As we prepare a table of fresh delicious food let us prepare a feast of fresh grateful thanks to the Lord for what He has accomplished in our lives during this past year.

As we place a freshly ironed tablecloth with no wrinkles over our banquet table let us place a garment of forgiveness over the creases of conflicts and hurts over our hearts thanking Him for the grace to forgive.

As we place items of tradition connecting generations and past years or use recipes handed down from past generations to keep precious memories alive, let us keep the sacrifice of Calvary precious and alive in our hearts as we set that table of thanksgiving.

As we bow our hearts in unity to pray at our tables let us give thanks not only for the food provided for our bodies but families and friends provided for our emotional beings and the heavenly manna provided for our spirits.

Since we are only made happy by what we appreciate a feast of grateful thanks will make this thanksgiving a feast of joy unspeakable!

Wrapped in the warmth of family and friends, the security of His unconditional love and enjoying His abundant provision, may you all have a wonderful THANKSGIVING.

I often prepare my table of thanksgiving by using photos of thanksgiving as my center piece.

Psalm 103;1-5 Bless the Lord, O my soul:and all that is within me, bless his holy name Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;

Who healeth all thy diseases;

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction

Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

CHALLENGE: If you don’t have any Thanksgiving Traditions start one this week to hand down through the years. It is these precious traditions that rekindle warm memories and bind families and even generations together.

How Does the Potter Mold Us?

527746_352074281546010_1715311882_n

In my book “Developing a Secret History with God” I have a chapter entitled “Changed from Glory to Glory” and I believe this photo depicts the truth from the chapter so well that I had to share it with you since it is said that a picture speaks a thousand words.

Page 182 reads “How does the Potter mold us to that image? He molds us through His Word during our time alone with Him. The WORD is the Potter’s wheel. We must allow it to mold and transform us. If we are not IN the WORD we are not on the wheel. Do we yield that it might transform us or do we jump off the wheel without it making a molding impact on our hearts? By listening we have visited the Potter’s shed! But only as we act upon that which we have heard, have we been on the wheel! Only when our actions change have we been molded.”

Jeremiah 18:2-4 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter:so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
