A modern day psychology book, The Law of Life, states “We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.” A survey in the book revealed that we usually take for granted 80% of the blessings in our lives, therefore we are only 20% as happy as we could be! Consequently the degree to which we are thankful determines our happiness.

As a toddler I celebrated with my family in Belfast Northern Ireland as our British troops with some 156,000 American and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France’s Normandy region. Codenamed Operation Overlord, the battle began on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day resulted in the Allied liberation of Western Europe from Nazi Germany’s control. Forever grateful to the many who paid the ultimate price that we can celebrate freedom.
Remembering my mother on her birthday and thanking her for giving me life as I reflect on this photo taken on the day of my christening when I was dedicated to the Lord.
Missing her so much since she went to be with the Lord 27 years ago.
