GUILT IS TO THE SPIRIT

WHAT PAIN IS TO THE BODY

When we feel pain in our body it is a warning to alert us that something is not right with us physically and can drain our strength robbing us of quality of life. We should listen to our bodies and not ignore it for the pain is only a symptom and not the root of the problem. We need to visit a doctor to search and diagnose the root of the problem. Even then he can’t help us if we are not totally honest with him. He will give us a prescription for us to swallow or may recommend some form of surgery.

Likewise, when we feel guilty, our conscience is sending a warning to alert us that something is wrong with us spiritually robbing us of the joy of our salvation. We should listen to our conscience and not ignore that nagging conviction for it is only a symptom of a deeper root problem. We need to visit the Great Physician that He may search our totally open honest hearts to diagnosis the root of the guilt. He can then cleanse it out even if it may take spiritual surgery followed by a prescription signed by the Hand of God which may include swallowing a pill called pride which is the root of most of our spiritual ailments. There is nothing in this world that can replace the total joy of a guiltless relationship with God and with others.

Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

CHALLENGE: Why live any longer with the nagging pain of a guilty conscience when you can visit the Great Physician?

Choose The Level Of Your Happiness

A modern day psychology book, The Law of Life, states “We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.” A survey in the book revealed that we usually take for granted 80% of the blessings in our lives, therefore we are only 20% as happy as we could be! Consequently the degree to which we are thankful determines our happiness.

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

What is a Hero?

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.24.32 PM

During Memorial weekend we have been honoring some of our greatest heroes who are paying and many who have paid the ultimate price that we all might enjoy our national freedom. You may be pondering “What is a hero?”

A hero must live sacrificially for others and be a servant.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

A hero does not chase after honor, rather honor follows him like a shadow.

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Proverbs 25:27  It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

A hero must be willing to press on regardless of danger.“Failure is not an option.” /Apollo 13

2 Timothy1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Phillipians.3: 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

A hero, regardless of age, must have a mature attitude instead of a childish attitude that only cares for self-preservation with a “ what’s in it for me” mentality. God is looking for mature children not childish adults!

1Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

A hero does not only talk of his destiny but rather he lives his destiny.

1Timothy 4:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

A hero must be ready to cease the moment and rise to the occasion when the circumstances necessitate him to fulfill his destiny. “Carpe Diem”/ Dead Poets Society.

Esther 4:14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

A hero must have convictions that he is willing to lay down his life for. “Every man dies, not every man really lives.” William Wallace /Braveheart

A hero’s walk and talk must coincide because he becomes a role model.

1Corinthians11:1  Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Philllipians 3:17  Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

A hero is not shallow in character, but rather has a deep sense of commitment to a cause that constrains him to a character of authenticity and integrity.

2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us;

A hero must stay focused on the bigger cause outside of himself.

Isaiah 50: 7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

If education, wealth, talent, fame or even beauty do not make a hero, what produces heroism? IT IS CHARACTER! The inner man of the heart!

Proverbs 4:23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

So therefore hidden within the heart of every individual is a potential hero!

Yes truly it has a cost, a life of discipline, self-sacrificing, humility and courage.

But this life will inspire others to rise to their potential, when they witness qualities lived out in the life of the hero, qualities they admire and desire for their own lives.

It is worth it all when that life will hear from the greatest hero of all time

Matthew 25:21  His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

CHALLENGE: As we all walk this pilgrim life together, inspiring, encouraging, defending, and building each other up in the faith, let us all keep our eyes focused on the greatest hero and role model the world has ever known. Hebrews 12: 2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Searching For HIM In The Word

Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 9.16.09 PM

As believers we shouldn’t study the Word to merely become Bible literate but to become more like HIM as we grow to know HIM more and know ourselves more in the light of His Word. As I was meditating on this thought the Lord dropped this word in my heart. Praying this will also inspire you to search for HIM as you read the Word today.

Dear Child,

If you don’t find Me in the Word, you don’t see the Word with spiritual eyes, for am I not the Word? They speak of Me for I am the Word.

If you don’t see Me in the Word, you don’t see the Truth, for I am the Truth.

If you don’t see Me in the Word, you don’t see the Way, for I am the Way.

If you don’t see Me in the Word you haven’t found Life for I am the Life!

Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself.

The Sewing Machine That Is Sowing Love

IMG_0524

As we walked through the slums of the city today through rows of 4’x5’ shacks where it is just possible to lie down to sleep or stand up, it led us to a building with a heart of pure gold because God’s love dwelt there. A room filled to capacity with beautiful ladies from all faiths of Christian, Moslem and Hindu learning together around a wall lined in sewing machines.

God inspired the pastor’s wife to start this Empowering Women’s Tailoring ministry three years ago regardless of the woman’s religious background. For six months they teach widows, women raising their children without support of the father and single women to sew that they might have a profession to earn a living. As most of these women are uneducated they can only earn a living by cleaning homes for a mere $20 a month! After they graduate from this ministry they can start their own small business or work in the garment industry where they will earn $35 a week.

On graduation they are given the gift of their own sewing machine which costs the church $100. The church also pays $50 for a lifetime insurance on the machine.

What an awesome investment in the Kingdom of God as the ladies are also ministered to through sharing the Word and support in prayer. This not only effects the individual woman’s life but also whole households as they share God’s goodness with their families.

After sharing my testimony of God’s love and faithfulness I offered to pray with them for their needs. We spent almost an hour ministering to almost thirty of them for spiritual, physical and relationship needs in their households. After ministry we spent fun time around the sewing machines. Although a seamstress it had been a long time since I used a treadle sewing machine!

Not all these women graduate with a commitment to Christ but they do leave with a witness of God’s love they will never forget.

As we said our goodbyes I left with a humble heart overflowing with gratitude for having spent time with these precious ladies through sharing, prayer and just having fun together through our love of sewing as God knit our hearts together.

If you feel you would like to sow seed into this awesome ministry by purchasing a sewing machine please contact us and we will put you in touch with the church.
