If we were going on a job interview we would dress appropriately, or if we had an audience with the Queen of England it would be mandatory, as a woman, to include a hat and white gloves in my attire. However unlike other appointments with people, we don’t prepare our appearance to approach God but rather we prepare our hearts. For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). We don’t wear certain attire but rather we clothe our hearts with certain attitudes. As we approach the throne we clothe our hearts in an attitude of:
1. Gratitude
2. Humility
3. Holiness in reverent fear
We draw near to praise Him clothed in gratitude with thanksgiving. We draw near to fellowship and grow in His presence clothed with a contrite and humble heart. We draw near to worship Him clothed in holiness.

If it is your heart’s desire to Press on into His Presence, chapter nine in my book “Developing a Secret History with God” will inspire and encourage you.
The above sketch of the High Priest is such a window to my soul of the attitude garments we must wear as we approach the Throne of Grace.
