Saint Patrick – Truth or Legend?

statue-of-saint-patrick

Being an Ulster Scot, sometimes known as Scotch-Irish, who was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, I’ve always been interested in unveiling the truth of the life of the man known as Saint Patrick. What we know is based on three authentic writings he left behind.

  1. His confession
  2. His letter to his friend Coroticus
  3.  A hymn known as his breastplate.

I want to give you a revealing fact each day you may not know leading up to March 17th. which is the anniversary of his death.

Did you know that Saint Patrick was not even an Irishman?

His parents were Britons and Patrick was born near Dumbarton on the river Clyde in Scotland.

How Awesome!

On our two hour ride down to Philadelphia today for a checkup with my cardiac surgeon we drove through some beautiful winter scenery. The dark dreary winter suddenly became a sunny winter wonderland with boughs hanging low laden with fresh fallen snow against a backdrop of clear blue skies. How awesome!

It was a window to my soul from my heavenly Papa where He had taken my dark dreary winter of years of heart problems, surgeries and stroke to a sunny day when the boughs of my life would be laden with blessings against the backdrop of a total clean bill of health from the surgeon today.

I can look back on those days praising God for, as Andre Crouch penned “If I never had my problems I would never know what faith in God could do.” How awesome!

Overcoming Anxiety and Stress

Matthew  6:34 Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

In a world that is filled with worry, anxiety and time deadlines I want to encourage others how important it is to invest precious quiet time with God through my book “DEVELOPING A SECRET HISTORY WITH GOD”. Available from Barnes / Amazon

Page 118 of the book reads “When I learned to yield not only myself but also my time to the Lord, I began to understand the purpose of those few still moments. I prayed this prayer:

During these quiet moments of intimacy with You each day, the stresses and cares of this world seem so insignificant, as I spend some time with You in your time zone of eternity. Help me today to redeem my time and be a wise servant during my pilgrim walk in the earthly time zones that I am restricted to.

The Lord exhorted me with this word:

Child,
In eternity there is no time, and therefore no time limits or deadlines, there is only eternity. Only in earthly time zones are there limits and deadlines to meet, which brings stresses and anxiety. Through this testing, child, learn the lessons of balance, responsibility and priority. Learn to live according to eternity and keep your spiritual eyes on the “big picture” and fix your heart on Me, for only I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. There is nothing of worth outside of Me, there is nothing of value outside of eternity.
Thus saith Papa.”

Philippians 4:6-7 In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Only the Potter Knows the Purpose of His Creation

Dear Child,

Creation has no choice but to fulfill its purpose and be what it was created for.

Man was given a choice, a free will and a creative mind to fulfill My purpose or create his own.

All I ask of you is that you be what you were created to be.

You can try to do that which you weren’t created to do.

But you can never be what you weren’t created to be, no matter how you struggle!

                                            Thus saith Papa

Isa 64:8  But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

                   Everything has a purpose

In order to know the purpose of a thing you do not ask the thing

You ask the creator of the thing

Only the creator knows the purpose of the thing he created

When the purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable!

Challenge: If you do not know the purpose of your being, ask the Potter?

Choose to fulfill His purpose by being who He created you to be.

An Instrument in His Hand

I always use this fountain pen, which was a gift from my husband, John, when I journal my devotional time. One day as I was writing in my journal during my quiet time with God, the Lord used this as a window to my soul. I pray this word will also inspire you to be refilled daily with the Holy Spirit that your life will have an impact on the lives of others.

Dear Child,

As you hold your pen lovingly, as a gift from John, even so I lovingly hold you in My hand. The pen is the instrument but the hand does the writing. Even so you are an instrument in My hand, but I am the one who inspires, anoints and opens doors.

Rest in My hand, even as your pen rests in your hand.

Flow with Me even as your pen flows with your hand.

Continue to be refilled with the Holy Spirit even as your pen needs to be refilled with ink.

There would be no imprint if your pen had no ink, even so your writing would have no imprint on hearts without the refilling of My Spirit.

Thus saith Papa

2 Corinthians 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
