Expect Unexpected Blessings from His Hand!

photo

Many times during my walk with the Lord I have witnessed in my own life where “He has done exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” as Ephesians 3:20 records, but none will ever surpass the day God blessed me with the biggest surprise of my life!

I was a 22 year old young bride when I conceived in my womb and carried my child in my womb for the complete 9 months. Not unusual or miraculous in that you may say! But the story is only just started. I had previously decided to have natural childbirth at home with the aid of a midwife. The morning my labor started the midwife discerned something different about the labor and called on the assistance of my doctor. Not long after the doctor arrived I gave birth to a beautiful five pound baby girl. There was some confrontation between the doctor and midwife which I just couldn’t understand as I was expectantly exhausted from hours of labor and childbirth. The midwife was arguing that she thought there was another child in the womb while the doctor insisted it was only a big afterbirth! Well, only 15 minutes later, I was holding in my arms that big afterbirth, another five pound beautiful baby girl, the biggest surprise and may I say shock of my life.

The birth of any baby is miraculous but the birth of two healthy babies from the same womb is almost overwhelming especially when you are expecting only one child.

But you know what, it did not surprise the Lord, for He had already called them in the womb to their individual destinies in serving Him. To the medical field and to all who saw them they were identical and mirror images of each other but to the Lord they were as individual as their unique fingerprints.

I had loved the name “Patsy” so when our first and only, or at least so we thought, daughter was born she was named “Patsy”. My husband liked the name “Angela” so when God surprised us with our second daughter John got his “Angela”. Since both girls were healthy full term babies, they were left at home with us. Without exaggeration the second baby, Angela, cried incessantly for days so we decided she would never be an angel, so we exchanged their names! I was later told it was the shock of being left in the womb on her own that caused her stress and her crying. So our daughter who you all know as Angela was once called Patsy and who you now know as Patsy was once Angela. If you know the girls at all you will realize it was a good decision. LOL And so now you know the rest of this miraculous and unusual story.

All her life “my big afterbirth” surprise has tried and succeeded in surprising me in many ways. This past weekend she totally surprised us by flying in from Nashville to gate crash a dinner party we had planned for friends and her twin sister and brother-in- law who live nearby. Needless to say she was the icing on the cake of a wonderful evening of fellowship and lots of laughter. Thank you, Patsy, for continuing to bless our lives with surprises but it is with such sweet sorrow when we have to drop you off at the airport and say au revoir until our next surprise. God be with you till we meet again!

Thank you, Lord, for giving us a double blessing and blessing the fruit of my womb.

CHALLENGE: Never be surprised what God will and can do!

Overcoming Anxiety and Stress

Matthew  6:34 Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

In a world that is filled with worry, anxiety and time deadlines I want to encourage others how important it is to invest precious quiet time with God through my book “DEVELOPING A SECRET HISTORY WITH GOD”. Available from Barnes / Amazon

Page 118 of the book reads “When I learned to yield not only myself but also my time to the Lord, I began to understand the purpose of those few still moments. I prayed this prayer:

During these quiet moments of intimacy with You each day, the stresses and cares of this world seem so insignificant, as I spend some time with You in your time zone of eternity. Help me today to redeem my time and be a wise servant during my pilgrim walk in the earthly time zones that I am restricted to.

The Lord exhorted me with this word:

Child,
In eternity there is no time, and therefore no time limits or deadlines, there is only eternity. Only in earthly time zones are there limits and deadlines to meet, which brings stresses and anxiety. Through this testing, child, learn the lessons of balance, responsibility and priority. Learn to live according to eternity and keep your spiritual eyes on the “big picture” and fix your heart on Me, for only I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. There is nothing of worth outside of Me, there is nothing of value outside of eternity.
Thus saith Papa.”

Philippians 4:6-7 In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Only the Potter Knows the Purpose of His Creation

Dear Child,

Creation has no choice but to fulfill its purpose and be what it was created for.

Man was given a choice, a free will and a creative mind to fulfill My purpose or create his own.

All I ask of you is that you be what you were created to be.

You can try to do that which you weren’t created to do.

But you can never be what you weren’t created to be, no matter how you struggle!

                                            Thus saith Papa

Isa 64:8  But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

                   Everything has a purpose

In order to know the purpose of a thing you do not ask the thing

You ask the creator of the thing

Only the creator knows the purpose of the thing he created

When the purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable!

Challenge: If you do not know the purpose of your being, ask the Potter?

Choose to fulfill His purpose by being who He created you to be.

Hearing Gods Voice

It’s Time to Declare Our Love

images-6

At this time of the year lovers are selecting gifts to please their sweethearts and children are busy cutting out paper hearts to send to their friends.

In the midst of all the activity do not let us neglect to declare our love for the Lord by offering Him a spiritual Valentine. Beyond all our gifts or service there is one Valentine that would please Him more than anything else we might offer and that is our hearts. No, not paper ones but the real thing. For when we offer Him our hearts we give Him our all. Thats what Isaac Watts meant when he wrote this line to his hymn “When I survey the Wondrous Cross”.

“Were the whole realm of nature mine

That were a present far too small

Love so amazing, so divine

Demands my soul, my life, my all.”

1 John 4:10 “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be a propitiation for our sins.”

How could we help but love Him? Yet there are many who do not return His love. This brought anguish to Francis of Assisi, when he thought of Calvary and realized so many refuse the Savior’s love. He was moved to travel the streets exclaiming “Love is not loved ! Love is not loved !” This is also the tragedy of 2013, for Love is still being despised and rejected by many. But millions do love and cherish Him. Our hearts are His. At a time when the world is searching for love in all the wrong places, let us declare His Love to the world by loving one another as He first loved us.

Challenge: 1 John 4:11 “Beloved if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

HAPPY ST. VALENTINE’S DAY
